The Junior Golf Performance Centre at Manchester Golf Club was established by PGA Professional Scott Connor in 2006, there are now more than 60 junior golfers taking part in lessons at the club. House of Golf Assistant Michele Thomson has also recently joined Scott in helping to promote Junior Golf at Manchester Golf Club and in the wider community. With pupils as young as five, Scott and Michele work on a one-to-one basis with boys and girls and also teach juniors in groups.
The Junior Golf Passport which is promoted by the Golf Foundation has proved to be a great motivation for the youngsters, as it provides key skills for game improvement at a steady pace. All areas of the game are worked on throughout the scheme.
The Golf Performance Team has a wealth of experience when it comes to junior golf. Scott Connor was a junior county player and Faldo Series Finalist he is a qualified PGA Professional who has spent time in the States with Butch Harmon, Chuck Cook and Bob Toski to improve his coaching skills. He works with elite Junior Golfers at the Golf Performance Centre.
Michele Thomson was a member of the GB and I Curtis Cup Team in 2008 and she was a distingished Scottish amateur. Michele is in her first year as a professional and brings a great deal of first hand golfing knowledge to the team. Michele's focus is to make golf accessible and enjoyable to all youngsters.
One of the aims of the Junior Performance Centre is to share this wealth of experience with up and coming golfers. Advice can be given on tournaments to enter and golfing schedules, all tailored to enhance the individual's development.
Links have been established with County organisations, the Golf Foundation and numerous other junior organisations to enable us to provide the best advice available.

This summer Michele Thomson and the Junior Performance Centre will be running summer camps throughout the holidays. This gives juniors the opportunity to meet other golfers of their age and improve their overall golfing ability. The cost of a summer camp is £25 for 3 hours including balls, snacks and drinks.
Junior Camps in the Summer Holidays start from 21st July and we have allocated spaces on the following days each week during the holiday period. Tiny golfers can also take part in the Summer Camps but we recommend for one hour only. The cost of this session is £10.

The Junior Performance Centre and Manchester Golf Club Junior Section organised a visit to the Ping Factory in Gainsborough. During the visit the young golfers learned about the importance of having correctly fitted golf clubs, how golf clubs are manufactured and the technology that is involved. It was a great experience for everyone!
